Medina business  and service clubs offer Youth Outreach Services at Local CUPS Cafe. Tim Van Arsdale has created a place in Medina, which opened its doors in November 2007, where young people facing a dark time in their lives can pause to catch their breath and hang with their friends over a soft drink and a sandwich. CUPS Café is a nonprofit community café at 126 N. Court Street, that doesn’t need a cash register because everything on the menu is free.

We are encouraged by our community partnerships with Medina Sunrise Rotary* (youth literacy and Life Skills Training programs),, Let's Make a Difference (after school programs), and STEM (OSU Extension Office' s vocational programs for youth).

*Medina Sunrise Rotary and Pride One donated the AD-compliant additions plus the after-school student & instructor laptops.
 

Medina County Service Club members, from many backgrounds and faith traditions, come together on Good Friday, as one, to worship and pray as a community for God's hand on our city.

We enjoy fellowship with believers from around our city, are inspired by a keynote speaker, as we unite in service, prepare for Easter,and pray as one community.

This year, we are hosted by Medina Odd Fellows.

Rotary started with the vision of one man — Paul P. Harris. 

Harris  was born on 19 April 1868 in Racine, Wisconsin, USA. At age 3, he moved to Wallingford, Vermont, where he grew up in the care of his paternal grandparents. He attended the University of Vermont and Princeton University and received his law degree from the University of Iowa in 1891.

In 1896, Harris settled in Chicago and opened a law practice. Four years later, he met fellow attorney Bob Frank for dinner on Chicago’s North Side.

Harris eventually persuaded several business associates to discuss the idea of forming an organization for local professionals. On 23 February 1905, Harris, Gustavus Loehr, Silvester Schiele, and Hiram Shorey gathered at Loehr’s office in downtown Chicago for what would become known as the first Rotary club meeting.

In February 1907, Harris was elected the third president of the Rotary Club of Chicago. Toward the end of his presidency, he worked to expand Rotary beyond the city.

Harris died on 27 January 1947 in Chicago at age 78, after a prolonged illness. Before his death, he made it known that he preferred contributions to The Rotary Foundation in lieu of flowers.

Rotary has grown to be a global network of more than 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who are organized into 45,000 clubs and embrace a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

World Immunization Week: Protecting children through lifesaving vaccines

Our District 6630 Conference (DISCON 2025) this year will be at the Marriott East in Warrensville Heights on Friday April 25 and Saturday April 26.  The District Conference is for ALL Rotarians!!!  Registration links are available here for the event and hotel .  I particularly like the layout of this hotel for our event.  Our House of Friendship - displays of projects and other areas of interest - will be just outside the ballroom where social time will occur and you will gather between events.

In Medina County, 11.4% of residents – approximately 1 in 9 individuals – struggle with food insecurity, while the rate for children is even higher at 11.9%. The mission of Feeding Medina County is to nourish our neighbors in need. We firmly believe that no one should endure hunger due to their circumstances.
