MEDINA SUNRISE ROTARY AWARDS CEREMONY

With the Medina Sunrise Rotary Club new Officers and Board of Directors now in place, President Kent Morgan opened the annual club awards ceremony meeting and warmly thanked everyone for a successful year of fellowship, service and commitment to making a difference in the lives of children in our community and beyond through our time, talents and treasures.

Kevin Wermer, who served as the most recent club president, from 2020 to 2021, began the awards ceremony with a congratulations to all Rotarians in the Medina Sunrise Rotary Club for receiving the District A.Z. Baker Award. This award honors Ohio's own "Mr. Rotary," A.Z. Baker, from the Rotary Club of Cleveland who served as Rotary International President in 1955-1956. His dedication and commitment to Rotary truly exemplified SERVICE ABOVE SELF and this award was designed to honor his memory by encouraging all clubs in the district to participate in each of the Avenues of Service which are the foundation of club activity: Community Service, Vocational Service, Club Service, International Service and Youth Service.

Following the good news of the A. Z. Baker Award, Kevin recognized all our "Virtual Faithful Members" on Zoom during the Coronavirus Pandemic and some of the notable talents within the club, including:

Dr. Shail Jain - McClintock Award for Service Above Self
Kerry Gregoire - Ray Award for Club MVP
Sandy Hinkle - Paul Harris Fellowship Award in appreciation for significant leadership given to Feeding Medina County
Toby Butt - Perfect Attendance for 47 Years in Rotary and attaining Paul Harris Fellow +7 Level
Frank Shotwell - Paul Harris Fellow +1 Level
Rev. Dr. Reid Miller - Perfect Attendance for 46 Years in Rotary
Dr. Michael Davanzo - Perfect Attendance for 25 Years in Rotary
Ed Jakubick - Perfect Attendance for 25 Years in Rotary
David Lariviere - Perfect Attendance for 19 Years in Rotary
Dr. Shail Jain - Perfect Attendance for 8 Years in Rotary

Kent Morgan expressed his own congratulations to the award recipients and presented a beautifully engraved plaque of appreciation to Past President Kevin Wermer and closed the ceremony with the Rotary International Theme 2021-2022:  SERVE TO CHANGE LIVES
