PROMOTE PEACE: Rotary Youth Exchange students from District 6600 and District 6630 recently engaged in a series of activities in February, exemplifying the spirit of peace, goodwill, and understanding that defines this program.

As Youth Ambassadors and future leaders, these individuals have been instrumental in fostering cultural exchange and comprehension. This year's exchange program has included partnerships with numerous countries, including Switzerland, Belgium, Taiwan, India, Austria, Hungary, Czechia, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, France, and Italy. The 2026 Peace Summit, held at Lorain County Community College in collaboration with Rotary District 6600 and the YWCA of Elyria, brought together community members, friends, and neighbors to engage in meaningful discussions on topics such as courage, fear, hate, discrimination, food insecurity, and critical thinking. Keynote speakers David Orr and Chase Ferris delivered impactful presentations, complemented by breakout sessions focused on creating positive spaces and promoting peaceful coexistence. The success of the Peace Summit demonstrates the power of collaboration and conversation in shaping relationships and demonstrating true understanding. The Rotary Youth Exchange program, which sends students abroad for 10 months and hosts international students for the same duration, provides a unique opportunity for cultural immersion and peace promotion. By engaging in difficult conversations and standing up for what is right, individuals can create positive change and protect the planet. The experiences and takeaways gained by the youth exchange students and participants in the Peace Summit will undoubtedly have a lasting impact.
